Fast DVD Converter is, as its name indicates, a DVD converting tool developed by Armenian Dictionary Software Inc. This piece of software follows the same criterion of all the applications produced by Armenian Dictionary Software Inc., the extreme simplicity.
The whole program is organized within a single window. In this window you will find everything you need to convert your DVD into some of the following formats available: MP3 and WAV if what you want to do is extract audio streams only; VCD, SVCD, and AVI if you want to extract the total content of your DVD. For some formats there is available a Settings dialog to configure some parameters to meet your needs. For example, if you choose AVI and hit the Settings button, a dialog will open where you can configure the video size (width and height expressed in pixels), Zoom (Full, Pan Scan, Letterbox, and Medium), Format (among the compressing formats and codecs you have available in your system), and Audio Settings (audio format and audio parameters).
At the top of the window there is the toolbar with the following buttons:
• Open DVD: to browse a DVD folder in your system.
• Open IFO: to browse IFO files in your system.
• Options: to access the options dialog where you can configure some program parameters.
• Destination: to define the default destination folder for output files.
• Convert: to initiate the conversion process. Only available when the file list have some files to convert.
• Help: to access the help file installed on your system.
• Homepage: a direct link to Fast DVD Converter homepage.
Right below the toolbar there is the file list to convert. It is automatically filled when you browse a DVD folder or an IFO file. Each file presents a checkbox you must tick if you want that file to be converted.
At the bottom of the window there are some dropdown text boxes you can use to define the output format, parameters of conversion, title, and others. On the bottom right corner there is a little preview window that will display the video while it is converted, and it’s also useful to preview a file before conversion in order to identify them.
The down side of the application is that it doesn’t have a batch processing mode, which is useful taking into account the highly time consuming tasks this software performs.
Fast DVD Converter is designed to run on Windows based systems only. It runs almost in every version of Windows though (32 bits versions only). Check the list below:
